Interview with artist Fernando Naviskas —


1. Who are you and what do you do?
I am Fernando Naviskas, born in 1961.  I am  Brazilian artist painter.

2. Why art?
Because it’s part of me like my legs or the air I breath. Because is inevitable.

3. What is your earliest memory of wanting to be an artist?
Since very young, 3 or 4 years old, strong inclination for drawing and music.

4. What are your favorite subject(s) and media(s)?
I love to paint life in acrylic, urban scenes, music, dreams and symbols – everything in high explosion of colors.   My subject into all subjects is always energy.

5. How do you work and approach your subject?
All my work flows incessantly.
I produce a lot and every day. I just obey the inner strength and translate into colors and shapes the feelings I have about a topic.

6. What are your favorite art work(s), artist(s)?
There are many masters who inspire me – the work of the Impressionists always fascinates me but that enchants me most is Vincent Van Gogh. The most purest emotion and even magic power.

7. What are the best responses you have had to your work?
The recognition and respect in several countries. The growth of more and more new collectors around the world.

8. What do you like about your work?
I like the truth, I like the force that my painting shows. I like the physical result of my concerns, I think I show myself honestly.

9. What advice would you give to other artists?
All art that is honest, all the work that translates ourselves, that comes from the inside out – he gains strength, will always be above it shows the soul. What I would say to other artists: Be true.

10. Where do you see yourself in 5-10 years?
With absolute certainty traveling more and more around the world showing my artwork.
